I hear Alaska is country bear...what kind of bears live there and what other animals in Alaska can we expect to find there?

Definitely! Alaska is country bear so if you're planning hiking or camping you want to 'bear' this in mind. The white polar bear, the grizzly bear and the black bear live in Alaska and they're the kind of animals in Alaska you can spot easily.

Other animals in Alaska include the the Red Fox, the Little Brown Bat, Short-Tailed Weasel, Gray Whale, Otters and Puffin.

The polar bears aren't as common as the grizzlies and the brown bears. They like really northern climates, so you might not find them in Anchorage or such.

That's quite a range in size. I don't know if I've ever seen a shrew up close, but they are cute little things. On the total other end of the size spectrum, Alaska is a great place to see whales. That's one of the best reasons to take one of those Alaska cruise vacations.
