Since I've been checking into trips into Atlantic City, I thought I'd get your opinions about day trips from philly. It looks like Greyhound has regular bus service that leaves quite frequently. Have any of you done this? It looks like it's only an hour from Philadelphia and that means we could see the Independence sights and the neon lights in the same day! Does anyone else make this trip?

There are about 20 daily buses (Lucky Streak casino service) going to Atlantic City from Philly. I have done this route several times and the trip takes around 80 minutes and costs around $25 round-trip. Btw, are you much into gambling? If you're just going to Atlantic City for a day trip be in the know that this place is mostly about casinos.

I wouldn't bother going all the way to Atlantic City if you aren't into gambling. There are better suggestions for day trips from Philly, which are no more than 2-3 hours drive like New Hope, the Jersey Shore, Longwood Gardens, Hershey and Six Flags.
