There is a good one coming up in Cary on August 3 and 4 at the annual Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Fest. You'll get a souvenir tasting glass and have the opportunity to sample 60 different beers and 40 bourbons. That's a lot of happy tasting. BBQ vendors will be cooking up the best ribs, sausage, chicken and pulled pork in town and there will be live rock and blues music both days. Cary is approximately 20 minutes from Raleigh so if you're going to be in town, take your thirst and your taste buds to this popular festival.

This is a really big deal, especially for lovers of North Carolina barbecue. The sauce is different than the tomato-based popular in other regions. It's a thin sauce with vinegar and quite tasty. If you say you love barbecue, you should really try North Carolina barbecue.

You're absolutely right, mtraveler, there's a definite difference in flavor. The tomato based BBQ is rich in flavor and the twang of the vinegar sets the other apart with a distinctive flavor. With all the food festivals that take place in NC, folks are sure to get a mouthful of delicious finger-lickin good southern BBQ.
