Just to let you all know that Berlin's Pergamon Museum will be partially closed for five years of renovation until 2019. I believe have already started in September. By the way, the Pergamon is not the only Berlin museum renovating. Neue Nationalgalerie will close at the end of 2014, though some collections will be shown in a temporary exhibition at the Hamburger Bahnhof.

Renovations have been going on since 2013, but you can still visit the Pergamon. It's the hall (north wing) containing the Pergamon Altar that has been closed since 29 September 2014 and will remain closed to the public until 2019. The south wing of the museum is still open though.

The Pergamon Museum is a the big highlight..it really wont't be the same if you don't get to visit it. I remember waiting over 2 hours in the rain just to get into the Pergamon Museum but it was well worth it! You'll see entire ancient gates and walls from Babylon times as well as old artifacts like the Ishtar Gate of Babylon.
