national geographic best beaches? I think national geographic missed the ball here! major cities don't necessarily have the best beaches..I mean Tel Aviv and Vancouver? c'mon! What about southeast asia..thailand surely has some of the best in the world. and what about the coast of south america? the beaches in northern brazil are way better than barcelona or sydney's...

I more or less agree with the list by Dr Beach, though I do feel there is a huge bias on his part...if he says top beaches in north america, how come none of mexico's and canada's beaches made the list? this top 10 clearly applies only to the states.
I'm partial to the beaches on the west coast of Florida like Ft DeSoto, Treasure Island and Clearwater. On the east coast, Jupiter is awesome. The Outer Banks, Nags Head and Virginia Beach definitely make a statement. I agree with some of the choices on both lists. I'd be hard-pressed to find a beach I didn't like.
How about in Asia, Thailand has a lot of nice beaches and islands. Hollywood choose here for many romance movies!
There are a lot of nice beaches around the world and I guess it depends on your preferences. Not all expensive places are good. For me, a place where one can have a relaxing time without spending so much. Asia has the good places in the world and the Philipines has a lot of simple and exotic places.
