If you happen to visit the north coast of Maine, don't miss the opportunity to see spectacular high tides along the Bay of Fundy, which is about 2 hours drive from Bangor. IF you do go remember that there is about 12 hours between one high tide and the next. Low tide is midway between high tides.

To get to Bay Of Fundy from Bar Harbor Maine, you can take two routes: either the Rt. 1 from Ellsworth eastward along the coast through Machias and then northward along Passamaquoddy Bay to Calais; or take Rt. 9 which is quicker though Rt. 1 is more scenic.
