I have a love affair with South Dakota and you too would once you visit the state. So many things to do and the scenery and wildlife opportunities are plentiful. A few places i would suggest for nature lovers are: Norbeck Wildlife Preserve, Custer, Fort Sisseton, Lake Hiddenwood and Roy Lake, which boasts many lovely cabins around.

    What's yours?

best places to experience foliage scenery

The Black Hills region is probably the most beautiful area in SD for viewing fall foliage scenery. I've done this part of South Dakota several times by taking scenic drives through Highway 385 and Vanocker Canyon. If you come to this area in early to mid-October, it's best.

I would say too that the Wildlife Loop in Custer State Park is a great spot for wildlife viewing because it joins Wind Cave National Park. Add the Badlands and Devil's Tower to your list too.... as it's also about 2 hours from Hill City.
