The best time to visit Rhode Island is probably near late summer into fall, as you get the combination of good weather and the breathtaking sights of the forests transformed into their autumnal hues of gold and brown.
Summer is hot, and ideal for spending time on the beach, while in the deepest days of winter, the coast becomes bleak and stark, beautiful in its emptiness.
Hi there. I would say that the best time to visit Rhode Island is during the late spring, early in the summer, or early in the fall. Winter is generally good to avoid for tourists, as it is usually quite cold throughout the state, though it really comes down to the kind of activities that you wish to enjoy. Summer is best for hanging out at the beach, for example.
All the answers have been pretty good. I would think that fall is a great time. You can see the leaves changing and still visit the historic mansions. Plus, the beaches are still open. It's too cold to go swimming, of course, but you can still hike and kayak.
