The wild mustangs are running in Hot Springs...at least at the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary. These amazing, beautiful creatures have a place to call home. Now the visitors have more place to roam, too, with the opening of Wild Horse Cafe. It's part of the visitor center that has exhibits and more fun. This is one of the cooler wildlife-watching attractions in South Dakota.

I have visited the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary several times and every time it never ceases to amaze me how beautiful these wild horses are. Worth going there if you' happen to stay in Hot Springs...you can spend several hours at the Sanctuary.

Watching the wild horses is a real treat and something to add to a vacation list, if possible. I had the good fortune to visit Chincoteague in Virginia where the horses run free along the beach. It's something to see. The wild ponies can also be seen in Maryland at Assateague Island National Seashore.
