If you plan to travel to Burlington with kids and fancy doing some skiing, Bolton Valley is the closest ski mountain to Burlington (about 25 minutes) and great for kids and families. As far as places to stay in Burlington, the Marriott, the Hilton and Hotel Vermont are three of the best hotels in downtown Burlington, which is were you want to base yourself as you can walk everywhere. Oh yes, don't forget a visit to Shelburne Museum...kids will love it;)

the jewel in the crown†of Burlington

Spend some time along Waterfront Park. This park has views on Lake Champlain and the boardwalk allows for nice walks with the kids. In the summer, you can enjoy concerts on the lake and festivals like the Vermont Brewer’s Festival or the annual Dragon Boat races, which are so much fun;)

    Burlington's nearest ski areas

You should the night skiing at Bolton. It's fun and kids will love it too. Stowe is another place you can go skiing from Burlington but day tickets are very expensive (around $80). You could also check out Sugarbush and Smugglers Notch but these places are very popular and always busy.
