There's a bit of confusing out there regarding Canadians traveling to Turkey, tourist and transit visas. I live in the US but I hold a Canadian Passport and yes, even Canadians need a visa for traveling to Turkey. It costs 60 USD and you can either get it at the airport on arrival or in advance online. The only time you do not need a visa for Turkey is if you are transiting there and simply make a connection with another international flight from the same terminal upon arrival.

They no longer put a sticker on your visa..they use now an electronic visa. All you need to do is go to and provide the requested information. After the application is approved and make online payment you can download the e-Visa.

It's not really a visa, it's more like you pay for entering the country, so you wouldn't have any problems with it.

The thing to consider is, if you leave Turkey shortly to visit Greece or Bulgaria, you don't need to go through the same procedure again since it is valid for 60 or 90 days. Had some Canadian friends who paid again and the clerk didn't realize the mistake either.
