rent a car for a few days just to explore. Otherwise, cabs are the way to go.
Moonhole is a great choice. it's located at the west end of Bequia, which is very quiet, peaceful and remote because all the shops, restaurants etc are at the opposite end. You will want to hire a rental car for sure if staying there.
I stayed at the Sugarapple which is a short walk to Friendship Bay beach. By the way, all beaches in St. Vincent are public (including the beach at Young Island Resort). Beachcomber's Hotel is nice too and has a pool and a small spa as well as beachfront where you can do snorkelling around the rocks at the far right of the beach.
