has anyone done a Chernobyl site tour before and what do you get to see? what's the nearest town to the site of the disaster?

With a Chernobyl tour you get to see deserted ships an abandoned villages primarily. You also get to see the reactor that exploded but only from a strategic location for obvious reasons.

Overall, a tour of Chernobyl is a grim remainder and at times disturbing destination, but if you're interested in history, Chernobyl site is fascinating insight into what a nuclear war could mean!

I would love to do something like that!! When I went to Ukraine, it wasn't like they advertised tours or anything. I would imagine that one would have to be a scientist, or something like that.

Actually, the Chernobyl tour is one of the most popular attractions there. You get to tour the whole plant plus the surrounding areas and see the effects of the accident first hand.
