Art lovers have a new place to visit in Maine. Colby College Museum of Art has expanded with the addition of the Alfond-Lunder Family Pavilion. There's now 10,000 extra square feet to display the treasures the the Lunder family assembled over the years. And by treasures, we mean treasures. There are works from American greats Georgia O'Keeffe, James McNeill Whistler, and Winslow Homer. The college is located in Waterville.
this art collection is estimated to be worth $100 million...nice the family have gifted all of it to Colby but i wonder if they were pressured into doing it or not. Either way, i cannot wait to visit it now and see it for myself.
I was there last Christmas learning about the local arts scene and community in Waterville. Railroad Square and the Waterville Opera House are great places to visit there.
