When taking a break from the numerous casinos and shows, there's plenty of fun-filled entertainment for everyone in Las Vegas. Here's a short list of just a few of the things you can do for a day trip while vacationing in Las Vegas:

    Tour the Hoover Dam
Take a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon
Try your hand at tandem skydiving
Take a mini Baja buggy half-day tour
Tour Red Rock Canyon in the Mojave desert
Take a hot air balloon ride
Go white water rafting down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon
Travel by ATV and tour the El Dorado Canyon. Search for gold at the Techatticcup gold mines

what to do outside of Las Vegas

nice list..i would add to that visiting the Death Valley, the Mojave National Preserve, Boulder City, Lake Mead National Recreational Area for swimming, water skiing, camping, boating, fishing, tours and cruises.

    tour of the Grand Canyon

the helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon is an absolute must! however, remember that if you take a helicopter from Las Vegas, you won't be actually going to the Grand Canyon National Park. You are, at best, going to the "West Rim", which is still part of the Grand Canyon...still, it will be an impressive ride!

Thanks for adding more places to go to the list. There's just so much to do! And thanks for clarifying the helicopter ride. It sounds awesome and something I've added to the top of my "to do" list. I can't even imagine what the view must look like other than it must be breathtaking!

Did you know the filmed the movie "Total Recall" in the Red Rocks? It was a stand-in for Mars. I'm pretty sure that the new remake with Colin Farell also filmed there too.
