Did you know you don't have to head out West to see a herd of elk? You can go to Elk County, Pa. It's located in the northern part of the state, up towards the New York border. The Elk Country Visitor Center opened in 2010 in Benezette, Pennsylvania...and it's a great place to go to see the critters and learn more about them.

Clinton County for viewing Elk herd

Clinton County is also phenomenal for viewing elk. Just take a drive along Lock Haven on SR 120 west and you can see them. One reason I suggest this route is because it follows the West Branch Susquehanna River, near Hyner View State Park and goes past the Red Hill Fossil Site.

That sounds like a lovely drive, Lord of the Mings. Love your user name. :) The Sesquehanna River is just gorgeous. Isn't it one of the three rivers that runs into Pittsburgh?
