fly from Rome to Florence

    No. You cannot fly from Rome to Florence. The train is the way to go but if you happen to be landing at the Fiumicino Rome airport you will not find a direct train from the airport to Florence. You need to go to Roma Termini to catch the direct train to Florence. Otherwise, you can catch the Leonardo Express train from Fiumicino Rome airport to Roma Termini and from there catch the Frecciarossa to Florence.

    You can get from Rome to Florence in a mere ninety minutes on a Trenitalia train or Italotrain. In fact, these two companies offer regular promotions such as one-way tickets for a low as 9 Euros (regular fare is €43 so you can see the saving). By the way, there is absolutely no reason to drive, unless you are planning on making several stops in places off of the rail lines.
