On June 1 and 2, add the blueberry festival in Alma located an hour and 40 minutes from St. Simons and Jekyll Island to your Georgia travel itinerary. This tasty festival celebrating the luscious blueberry was first celebrated in 1975. Over the two day event in, there's music, a parade, beauty pageant, street dancing, pie eating contests, and berries for sale. The event ends with an all out jam session in Goldwasser Park. If you love blueberries, don't miss this event!
Blueberry Festival in Georgia I recommend going to the Blueberry festival anytime...I attended this festival two years ago in 2010 and got to enjoy the cool Civil War reenactment, a nice parade, take part in a 5K Run, eat plenty of blueberries. There were also loads of entertainment for young and old like bull riding, live music, motorcycle and vintage car shows, etc. Definitely tale the kids and the family, you won't regret it
It is so helpful to hear first hand from someone who enjoyed such a fun event. We just had a blueberry festival in Brooksville Florida,10 days ago and I missed it. I've already marked my calendar so I can compare the annual strawberry festival in Plant City with the blueberry event. If it's anything like the strawberry shindig, it will be awesome. I can hardly wait!
