Guadeloupeans actually drive on the right like us, and that isn't the only good thing since roads are well paved and maintained, and road signs and symbols are similar to what you'll find in any English-speaking country.
You can secure a rental easily at the airport, though be aware that you will need a valid driver's license if you are staying in Guadeloupe for fewer than twenty days.
Car rentals are also generally quite reasonably priced, though you will get a better deal if you rent a car for a week or longer. Also, be aware that many rental companies require you to be over 25 years of age in order to rent a car.
