holiday to Vietnam.
Most tourists think it’s legal to drive in Vietnam with an international driver’s licence, but you can't..I found out the hard way when i wanted to hire a bike. Anyways, the requirements to get a driver’s license in Vietnam is a copy of your original driver’s license, a Vietnamese-translated copy of your driver’s license, a copy of your passport and 3 passport-sized photos. Also, remember that original copies of your passport and driver’s license must be shown when submitting all documents.
Vietnamese traffic police do patrols do the streets and some even speak English quite well so you have no excuse of language barrier. Dont make the mistake that a driver’s license from your home country is enough to prove you can drive legally in Vietnam. If you are in Ho Chi Minh City , you can pick up an application form from the office of transportation at 63 ly tu trong street in district 1.
