im looking to getaway next year with the family and we're considering Guam. what's weather like? do they get hurricanes? is it easy to get around? what about the local people there? we're interested in a bit of a cultural exchange with the locals..

    drawback of traveling to Guam

Guam is a lovely place, though just like the islands on the pacific ocean Guam also gets hurricanes/typhoons. You can get them most certainly between late June and December, though late August through mid-November is the peak season for typhoons. Still, have in mind that tropical storms are very regular on Guam whether strong or mild. i think that's the only drawback of traveling to Guam.

    people of Guam

what the last poster said is very true...they don't call Guam "typhoon alley," for no reason. Guam gets hit by typhoons so often!

as far as people, the Chamoru people call the island home and their language is the Chamoru language. You can get around on Guam without knowing any of the Chamoru language since English is the official language and it's widely spoken. The public transportation system isn't reliable so I suggest car hire all the way.

    weather in guam

This is very true about tropical torms on Guam...also, there's only two seasons on Guam (dry and rainy). The dry season runs from December to June and the rainy season from late June to early December. Overall, the best way to describe the weather in Guam is warm and humid with May and June being the warmest months of the year.
