There has been a few drownings onboard cruise pools...I think the last one happened on the Carnival Victory in 2013. People are calling for the Death on the High Seas Act changed as well as cruise lines to staff their ships with lifeguards. what are your thoughts?

i cannot believe cruises have not introduced lifeguards on cruises by now. it's in their interest not to have anyone drown onboard, but hey what do i know? it beggars believe that after all these unfortunate drownings nothing has changed;(

I would agree it would be a good idea for cruises to have lifeguards but in reality why should they? it is the responsibility of the parents to supervise their kids and not the cruise companies. The drownings off those kids could have been prevented if those parents didn't think of cruises as kindergarten centers.
