Yes, there is an international airport departure tax of Rs 1,500, which is around USD $35. Other general info about Sri Lanka include:

    - Tap water is not safe to drink so you'll need to get bottled water
    - No tipping is necessary as a 10% charge will be automatically added to your bill.
    - The import and export of local currency is limited to Rs1000 ($45)
    - Sri Lanka duty free is limited to 2 bottles of wine and 1.5litres of spirits, 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or 340g of tobacco
    - You must declare precious metals such as gold, platinum and silver when you arrive to Sri Lanka.
    - Penalties for carrying or trafficking illegal drugs are extremely severe.
