What is your advice for traveling to the Middle East? Does it depend on what country you're going to? For those of you who have been to the Middle East, what would you say? What do you need to know before you visit the Middle East?

Well, this is kind of obvious, but you want want to plan ahead and have your ducks in a row before you get there. It works much better when you plan ahead. And oftentimes, it helps to travel with an established tour company. They can do the planning and help if anything goes wrong.

what you need to do before you visit the Middle East is independent research...forget the mainstream media and the government sites who love nothing better to scare the hell out of people! the mid-east is such a hot topic though and there are genuine grievances in most places like Bahrain, Egypt, etc. Two places where there aren't any wars are the subservient state of Saudi Arabia and, of course, Israel!

You make a really excellent point, LBJ44. It's hard to get an accurate picture of what's really going on by looking at the media, especially when it's state run.
