They say Minnesota is the land of 10,00 Lakes, but it's also nestled along the Mississippi River. The grand tradition of traveling on a riverboat continues today along the Mighty Miss and the St. Croix River.

The Padelford Packet Boat Co,, based in St. Paul, hosts sunset sails, bald eagle watching excursions and other excursions in the Twin Cities.

In Stillwater, the St. Croix Boat and Packet Company, is another river boat cruise company. While the Padelford boats cruise the Mississippi, these vessels travel along the St. Croix River, another scenic gem.

The city of Wabasha even celebrates Riverboat Days the last weekend in July.

Do you have any more to add to the list?

It makes sense to take a riverboat tour along the Mississippi River. That's such an iconic slice of America. But the river is just a trickle in Northern Minnesota, so you're better off heading south for a riverboat tour.

    - Paradise Charter Cruises: offers public cruises and tours of the Mississippi River and Lake Minetonka for around $18

    - Rusty's Red Wing River Rides: offers public excursions and wildlife tours for about $15.
