If you are arriving in New Orleans from a cruise, I suggest not doing the expensive ship's excursion for a New Orleans tour. The Riverfront streetcar is near by the cruise terminal, which is great to get around. You can also walk from the cruise port. Buy a day pass on the streetcar if you plan to see the area around, including the French Quarter.

    St. Charles streetcar tour

There are three different streetcar lines: St. Charles, Canal Street, and the Riverfront. The St.Charles streetcar starts just outside the French Quarter off Canal Street. It costs $3 for an all day pass and runs one way down St.Charles to Lee Circle (where the World War II Museum and the Civil War Museums are located).
