In late October of this year there'll be a $4.50 increase in the flat rate charged during peak hours between Manhattan and Kennedy International Airport, which will make the taxi fare a total of $56.50. The $4.50 fare increase will not apply between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m nor on legal holidays.

It may not sound like much but an extra $4.50 would be a burden on many people, though then again, UBER has been messing with taxi's fare wages so I guess is fair play. It's a hard one to call as taxi drivers also have mouth to feed.
