Many people have a trip north on their bucket list with a desire to see the Northern Lights. This is a great time to do it thanks to the high activity of the sun. Winter is probably the best time to see the lights, but there are some sightings in the summer. There are many places throughout Alaska to experience the Aurora Borealis, many with a starting point in Anchorage.

No doubt the further north you head in the northern hemisphere the better the chances. I know places like Iceland, Sweden, etc are also two good places to view the northern lights.

I've heard that Yellowknife and northern Canada is really good for the Northern Lights tours. They also mine diamonds up there too!

I recently moved to Anchorage from Oregon and am waiting for a glimpse of the Northern Lights! The only time I've seen them in the past was from White Rock, BC surprisingly.
