Apparently hotel industry leaders are pushing state legislators to pass a bill that would require all online travel companies to be held to the same tax standards as the state's hotels. They say that online travel companies only remit to the state taxes on the amount they paid to the hotel. The worst offenders are Travelocity and Expedia. What's your take on this?

where do you read this? If this is true this will actually be very bad for Maryland’s tourism industry and small businesses.

    state Supreme Court ruling

Not sure what's going on else where but I read on skift.com that Hawaii's court have ruled out that Expedia Inc., Orbitz LLC and several other online travel companies owe the state of Hawaii up to tens of millions of dollars in back taxes as a result of a state Supreme Court ruling of this new tax.
