    Hi Travelgeek!

This thread is from last year but anyway, the question posted here applies to those who maybe thinking of dropping for a short visit to the Philippines. 5 days is a very short time for this country, esp. if you do not have any plans or ideas in advance.

I have met backpackers from Berlin, Germany this summer on the island of Mindoro (Puerto Gallera) and these guys were traveling for 6 to 8 weeks in the country.

If you have so much time, it makes sense to travel without any plans. As an archipelago, the most widely-used means of transportation in getting from island to island is of course, by boat, ship or ferry.

The bigger cities aside from Manila, i.e. Cebu City, Bagiuo City or Davao City, have their own airports and are easily accessible from Manila. But please remember that travel time alone in the Philippines consumes a lot from your vacation time.

So maybe if you are staying for a short visit, it is advisable to book a tour tailored to suit your time limit.

You should try to visit Boracay. It is truly a wonderful and splendid island in the Philippines. A day in Boracay is never boring!

Well, if you dropped off in Visayas and want to do some exploration you're not that far to Palawan. It consists of beautiful islands too and has exotic sight. I'm sure you'll gonna love it.

Hi! Your five days would be great for visiting Bohol and the nearby islands of Camiguin, Siquijor even Dumaguete City, all of which are just a short fast ferry trip away.

The sights in Bohol include the ubiquitous Baclayon Church, the Chocolate Hills, the man-made forest, Tarsier sanctuary, Loboc River floating restaurant, Hinagdanan Cave, the hot springs in Garcia Hernandez and the scenic town of Anda on the other side of the island. Panglao near the capital city, Tagbilaran would be your rest stop with it's wondrous beaches.

For easy access to all of those places, most of the hotels have a tour package (1 to 3 days depending on your preference) but do check out their rates and make sure the tour is already there -- some charge the tour separately. For those spending it tight, there are several cheap hotels with relatively affordable food anywhere. Just go to any gas station in the city and make arrangements with jeepney operators to make an otherwise cheaper version of the tour.

    Best regards!

You can take a look and experience Canigao Island in Southern Leyte. It is a 3 hectare island an excellent place to unwind from our stressful life in Metropolis.
