    hi there,

    - Chinese New Year is one of the most popular Malaysia festivals as it is one of the longest running festivals in Malaysia.

It starts on the first day of the Chinese lunar calendar and traditionally people exchange gifts of red and orange symbolizing prosperity and good luck.

    - The Hari Raya Aidilfitri or Hari Raya Puasa is one of the most important events in Malaysia for Muslims.

After a month of fasting during Ramadan in September the first day of Syawal, in the tenth month of the Muslim calendar, is celebrated with the utmost enthusiasm.

    - Christmas and New Years are also huge events in Malaysia.

    Advice

    - I would suggest to plan well in advance for Malaysia tours and accommodations.

    - Make sure you cover your arms and legs during all Muslim celebrations, especially women.

    Hope this helps

Wesak Day is an immensely popular festival of Malaysia. It is celebrated in the month of May and is one of the most auspicious days according to Buddhist calendar. Malaysia International Food Expo and Waterfall festival are other popular festivals in Malaysia.

The most popular Malaysia festivals will be Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Christmas & Deepavali. Normally all the above will have 'open house' where tourist are welcome to join the locals to visit some of the minister home including The Prime Minister house as well.

Prior to Hari Raya, the muslim will be fasting for a month so during that period they will be a lot of food fest esp just before breaking their fast.

As for Chinese New Year, there will be some Lion Dance performance around prominent area in the city. Personally for Christmas & Deepavali (rangoli kolam), i would like those decoration in big shopping complex such as Suria KLCC, Mid-Valley Megamall & Pavillion.

Apart from these there are other festival like Thaipusam & mooncake festival.

    Best of luck!

New year eve, Hariraya, Christmas are the some popular festivals. One can enjoy a lot on these occasions. With these, there are many other festivals which are popular among Malay people like Diwali etc.
