On the news last night it was reported two American tourists on two separate occasions were detained in jail after security found a single bullet in their baggage. Each noted the bag was removed from their sight and taken to another room then returned. Security officers said a bullet was found and they were taken to jail. Each had a $4000 bond to post. Both parties have to return to the Turks and Caicos Islands in June and face up to five years in prison. Not good for tourism. Has anyone run into similar situations while traveling?

wow, the prohibitionists are really pushing the pedal to the metal in their aim to rush their global agenda. Sending someone to jail because of a bullet (no weapon) found in their suitcase is ridiculous. It's not tourism that they're targeting but people's minds (via FEAR) at large and their ability to move freely throughout this earth.

Thankfully nothing scary has happened to me like that, but it can happen. Other countries can have strict rules or they could be out to separate Americans from their money. It is smart to check up on the rules if you're going to a country that has a very different culture than American culture.
