It's hard to find the "real flavor America" because most of America is the same dull clone with the same national chain stores. To experience the "real America", you have to go venture out to rural areas that don't have much tourism to places such as St. Martinville, Louisiana (Little Paris), Sky City, New Mexico (American Indian Pueblo culture) and St. Helena Island, SC (Gullah culture).

You can get a flavor of old pioneer America in the Flint Hills of Kansas. this area is mostly tallgrass prairie for miles in all directions, wildflowers, bison and real working ranches with real cowboys (around June time you can see real rodeos in Strong City). Best part about it, you can stay at one of these ranches and be a cowboy for a couple of weeks.
