what do you guys think is best to take with you for a trip to Yellowstone or the Rockies? I have been considering renting a motorhome but Im concerned about the cost of fueling and using them for overnight accommodations (is tenting cheaper?). also, i'm not sure if taking a big vehicle with high center of gravity up and down mountains maybe safe?

well, the RV cannot compare to an SUV no chance. For one, the space you get in an RV not to mention amenities. Renting an RV isn't cheap, but it does give you lots more flexibility if you are exploring places like Alaska's Denali Park

If you are going to be on the road, RV wins it hands down. The convenience of having a bathroom with you at all times and being able to stop anywhere and spend the night relatively comfortable. Don't think RV vs SUV is a fair comparison...maybe SUV vs car
