we're planning a skiing vacation in Whistler Blackcomb, although we're not quite sure of the area. Has anyone skied there before and what are the lopes like?

Also, are there other attractions apart from skiing?

Whistler Blackcomb resort boasts around 5,000 ft of vertical and over 100 marked runs. However, since the resort is operated by Intrawest, you'll be able to access the nearby Whistler Ski Resort which also boasts about the same feet of vertical and number of marked runs, so you'll have plenty of skiing opportunities.

Whistler village offers great shopping and dining opportunities, and you can also visit the Whistler Museum and Archives Society where you can see interesting exhibits about Native Indian cultures.

Whistler is fantastic all around...when you want to shop, dine, ski, relax, whatever, you can find it at Whistler. The Whistler hotels are a good place to start. Many of the restaurants and shops are located within the same buildings or withing walking distance of the hotels and chalets.

Whistler has a year-round schedule of fun things to do. In the winter, of course, there is downhill skiing, snow schools, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. But you also can gather for a photo session (on the top of most lifts), go heli-skiing, try a zipline tour, or climb aboard a snowcat for some warmed up tours.

That's just the outside stuff. Tasting tours are quite popular, as is shopping and the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre.
