The next Winter Olympics are coming to Sochi, a resort town nestled in the Caucasus Mountains. Its location along the Black Sea has long made Sochi a vacation spot. Now that there's a lot of wealth in certain pockets and there's more freedom in Russia, Sochi has emerged as a cool place to visit. And now that Olympics are coming, Sochi's skiing, scenery and resorts are gaining even more attention.

Had you heard of Sochi before the Olympics? I hadn't.

    Sochi Winter Olympics 2014

lol, that's so true..don't think most travelers will even have a clue where it is. It's in southern Russia. To get there, you will need to fly to Kiev and connect to Sochi via Krasnodar. At the moment there are no direct flights from Kiev to Sochi but Im hearing they may do them just for the Winter Olympics. If not, it isn't a problem. All you have to do is fly to Krasnodar, and get the train or bus from there to Sochi (on the road is about 70 miles drive).

The tickets will go on sale at the end of 2012. The only way to get tickets for the Winter Olympics in Sochi is via the official website (, authorized ticket sales locations, your local National Olympic Committee (NOC) or their appointed Authorized Ticket Reseller (ATR).
