I had the chance to go to South Haven a few weeks ago. If you find yourself in West Michigan, I recommend visiting this charming little village. It has some nice beaches and a cute downtown where you can shop and eat at some nice restaurants. There's also a channel, which is great if you want to talk a walk along the water without hitting the beach in South Haven.

South Haven's beaches are lovely for sure but boy do the beaches get crowded. I suggest staying at Van Buren State Park as it doesn't get as much traffic as Warren Dunes or the city beaches in South Haven.

I go to South Haven to visit friends every year when I can and Love the place. There are plenty of nice eating options in South Haven such as Thirsty Perch, the Vineyard (across from Thirst Perch), Capt. Lou's, the Idler and Clementines. Be sure to also check out the artsy communities of Saugatuck and Douglas and take a fun dune ride in Saugatuck for sure.
