We are planning to elope in Fiji next year. My husband to be is an avid surfer and with that in mind I would like to book a place that will give him the opportunity to surf some of the best spots. I've heard that some resorts have the exclusive rights to some of these spots. Is this true? Is it also true that other spot may cost money to surf? If so how much? Of course he wont be surfing the whole time so we are trying to determine the best location that will offer other activities. Any suggestions?
hi there, This is true! Many resorts do have usage rights that can keep you from accessing their waves, and so if you're not staying at their resorts, you have to go to out of the way places to find surfing spots. When surfing in Fiji I would suggest to mingle with the locals to find out the best surfing spots accessible to all. If you decide to go traveling through the Islands to surf, make sure you get the permission from the villages wherever you go, just to avoid conflicts.
