Tampa always has something going on year-round from fairs and festivals to concerts and sports. This year is extra special because the Lightning hockey team has made its way to the Stanley Cup finals. It was 2004 when the team brought the cup home so the city is jumping with excitement.

If you’ve been lucky enough to snag some tickets or hoping to pick up a pair for the next games, the party is in full swing and you don’t want to miss the action. While you’re here, take advantage of the fantastic weather with some swimming, sailing, snorkeling, fishing, and parasailing activities at nearby beaches or stay local and put on some suntan lotion and shades and head to the Causeway and Ben T. Davis Beach. It’s one of my favorite spots for picnicking and relaxing. All along the Causeway there are places to park or fish and just sit back and watch the birds fly by.

There are plenty of hotels in the downtown area near Amalie Arena or just minutes away in travel time. If you’re not familiar with Tampa and not sure what’s available or where to stay, Hipmunk is a great resource. Check it out and make your reservations at one of Tampa’s excellent hotels and come on down and cheer the Bolts or the Blackhawks on to victory.

Yep, the downtown area is the perfect location to walk to the arena. I’ve been to a few Stanley Cup Finals over the years and it's nice to hear that the Tampa Bay Lightning NHL team made it into the Stanley Cup finals!

Are you a Lightning fan or a Chicago Blackhawk fan?
