The Sahara Hotel, where the Rat Pack played and Las Vegas rocked, closed in 2011. It was sad to see the old hotel go, but it was just not keeping up with the new, fancy resorts that were coming up again. But everything old is new (and better again) in Las Vegas, so the Sahara will live again. It's going to be the SLS Las Vegas and should open in 2014.

    the Sahara to live again?

i don't why Sam Nazarian is planning to bring the old Sahara back to life by spending $300 mill. No matter how much money they throw at it, the new Sahara will face the same problem as the old Sahara, and that is location. The location of the Sahara is in a very decaying area with homeless people everywhere..i doubt, big celebrities names will ever stay at the place no matter how luxurious they build it!

end of the Strip is "bad news"!

I totally agree that the end of the strip have been in declining for years now. The new Sahara wont be able to compete with the newer parts of the strip (Bellagio, Luxor, Venetian, etc.)...i thought that's my they closed the old Sahara in the first place..go figure!
