Next month (November) marks the 25th anniversary of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, which preserves the Florida Keys from south of Miami to the Dry Tortugas islands. To mark its anniversary, the sanctuary will hold a Family Fun Festival on Nov. 8 at the Islander Resort in Islamorada featuring a free fishing clinic for children and live music.
Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary I'm told many famous people stayed in the Keys from Ernest Hemingway to Harry Truman. I was at the Keys myself and this sanctuary is lovely! It is also a great place to sea kayak because of the crystal clear water. There is also a shark nursery in the mangroves, which was very cool to watch.
