Does anyone have any suggestions for touristy activities in and around Auckland? We will be reaching there in Feburary and would appreciate some ideas. We have already considered whale / dolphin cruise and zoo visit. But what else is there?

the whale watch trip is fun but you can't leave Auckland without doing a bungy jump from the famous Auckland Harbour Bridge. if bungy isn't your thing you can still climb it by foot, which is equally awesome. Auckland Zoo and the Sky Tower are also worth adding to your itinerary (form the tower you get lovely views over the entire city of Auckland).

i also second climbing to the top of the harbour bridge because it is the only bridge you can climb in New Zealand. You should also pass by the Voyager maritime museum (to learn about New Zealand’s rich maritime heritage) and the art gallery toi o tamaki. if you enjoy shopping and nightlife, be sure to head to Britomart Precinct. it's located in the most historic part of the city and has a great selection of designer boutiques, bars and cafes all within a few blocks.
