    getting from Rome to Florence

It's true that Eurostar trains are the fastest way to get back and forth between Rome and Florence, but they're also the most expensive way.

Driving is certainly another option and the A1 Autostrada stretch is a beautiful stretch of road. However, driving into and out of Rome or Florence can be a nightmare and that's without mentioning parking...and how expensive parking really is. In all, I'd stick with the slower trains..they're much cheaper and allow to soak in more of the countryside views.

Trip Florence- Roma with intercity or regional train is around 4 hours. But maybe you can get cheep Eurostar tickets from Rome to Pisa. Pisa is just one h from Florence.

Florence is 173 miles north of Rome. Frequent trains run directly between Rome Termini Station and Florence Santa Maria Novella Station. A few slow trains also leave from Roma Tiburtina station.
