If you are visiting Machu Picchu be in the know that the train is the only “public†transport that actually reaches Machu Picchu (aka Aguas Calientes). There are two companies doing this route and they are PeruRail and Inca Rail which have trains leaving from both Poroy (20 min. from Cusco) as Ollantaytambo (1.5 hours from Cusco) Station.

whatever you do buy train tickets for Machu Picchu ahead of time because trains often sell out, especially during the high season. If you want to catch an early early train, Peru Rail is the only one who offers the earliest service to Machu Picchu at 5:10am. The trip takes about 2 hours from Aguas Calientes. I suggest spending the night there too.
