US nationals are required to have a visa before arriving in Brazil. You need to go to your local Brazilian consulate or the one nearest to you. There's only 7 of these places in the US. They are Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco. The actual Brazilian embassy is in Washington, D.C.

If you under 18 y/o, you won't be able to travel into Brazil unless you submit notarized copy of the birth certificate and a Letter of Consent signed by each parent listed on your birth certificate. if you have children 3 months to 6 y/o, you must show a certificate of vaccination against polio.

    Brazil visa process time

It's not just US citizens, most countries do need one. Do apply for it in advance because the visa can take up to 60 days to process in the Brazilian Embassy/Consulate depending when you travel. The fall-winter months are the busiest months.
