Along with Machu Piccu, Sacred Valley is one of the must visit in Peru. Most people visit the Sacred Valley for a day with an organized tour. If you haven't visit it before, the tour is probably the best option for first travelers. Main spots at Sacred Valley are the market at Pisac, Urubamba, the Ollantaytambo village and the Quechua village of Chinchero. Choosing tours is easy and you'll find them mostly in and around the Plaza de Armas in Cusco.

Sacred Valley group tours (20 people) cost around US$20 and are really worth it if you only have one day to explore. I personally preferred doing this in a small group by hiring a taxi for the day (costs around US$80) and take a guide with you (costs US$70). Remember that the Sacred Valley is huge so it will be tiring seeing Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero all in one day.

The ruins of Ollantaytambo are really a highlight as they were carved out of a cliff with terraces leading up from the town.
