Never been to Iowa? Here it's Iowa at a glance ti give you an idea - Northeast Iowa is the most scenic part of the state. - Dubuque boasts stunning bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River and boasts the world's shortest elevator - the Fenelon Place Elevator - Maquoketa Caves is one of the most popular state parks in the state - Des Moines is the state capital and largest city in Iowa - Madison County boasts some of the oldest covered bridges in the region
This is a nice reminder that there's more than corn in Iowa! I love the Quad Cities that cross over the Mississippi River in both Iowa and Illinois. This time of the year, bald eagles gather there in droves. Festivals, eagle watches and festivals, in Davenport and the other cities are a lot of fun on cold winter days.
I've been to Iowa a few times and every time im there the state strikes me very much a live-and-let-live sort of place. If you come from places like California, New York, etc, you will even notice this relaxed feeling more and they seem actually more concerned with people than running over them if you catch my drift.
