I wouldn't quite recommend summer as it's wet and humid, and during this time of the year, the country is prone to getting typhoons.
If you do want to travel during the summer, I'd avoid June and July as most of the rainfall takes place during these months.
I personally like playing it safe, and if you do too, I'd be looking to make plans for a trip to South Korea in autumn.
