when visiting Puerto Rico, I suggest avoiding/skipping the tourist traps of San Juan metro area and head to places Guayama, Isla verde or Luquillo for a better experience. At least spend more of your time away from the touristy areas. Oh yes, don't forget that all taxis in Puerto Rico are metered. A typical ride to and from the airport costs around $45

Puerto Rico does have its fair share of tourist traps like the Bacardi Tour, unless you are fan of Rums that is. There's also the Starbucks over there which charge $5 per cup when the best cafe in Puerto Rico cost under $1 a cup at the local cafe place. Same thing goes for the restaurant chains. Avoid them like the plague!

El Yunque is a must as well as Rio Camuy Caverns. You can do a 45-minute guided tour of the main cave, Cueva Clara, and see the stunning underground river and enormous sinkhole. Fajardo is the best place for snorkelling and scuba diving.
