you can see them in most parts of Canada such as Akpatok Island, Cambridge Bay, Churchill, Nain and Resolute Bay. Overall, i think Churchill and Resolute Bay are the best places to see polar bears in Canada. From May to August, you will be able to see them up-close, especially from Cape Churchill.
visit Churchill in late October
I have been to Churchill a couple of times and my tip is to do it the cheap way, rather than wasting thousands on organized polar bear trips. Just pay a local taxi guy in Churchill to drive you out of town to see a polar bear. I did this and got to a few laying down which was really cool. If I remember well it was in late October when temperatures are mild and aurora borealis can be seen.
What great advice! Thank you for sharing. I love the tip about not paying for a big tour....sometimes it's fun to see things on your own. I do like traveling with a package because it is easier, but it also costs more. I didn't think about seeing the northern lights too. Awesome!
